The effective guarantee of human rights, today more than ever, poses challenges that are difficult to overcome from legal sciences alone. It is for this reason that the Unesco Chair and the Childhood Chair have called on other disciplines and members of the UNITWIN Network to carry out research on governance and the topics under study by both Chairs. This book is the result of those contributions.

In the first section of this publication the reader will be able to find four international chapters that serve as a preamble to the topic of historical memory: one dedicated to the semiotic analysis of the words "truth" and "justice", two to public security policies and one to the comparative analysis of transitional justice in Colombia and Spain. Subsequently, articles are presented that address historical memory from different perspectives: that of cultural heritage; that of mental health; that of children who are victims of forced displacement; that of the relationship between collective memory and psychosocial dynamics; and that of the appropriation of the territory, generating new subjectivities.

The second section addresses three problems that affect the effective guarantee of the rights of some boys and girls in Colombia: to begin with, legal practices that ignore alternatives in the Criminal Responsibility System for Adolescents; subsequently, the lack of knowledge of the sexual and reproductive rights of minors with intellectual disabilities; and finally, some definitions and practices that prevent training for autonomy.
