Debates contemporáneos sobre el turismo tomo I.

This book presents volume I: "New challenges of tourism. Case studies on the links between governance, development and sustainability", which deepens the knowledge about the tourism phenomenon and its relationship with governance processes and territorial sustainability through 13 investigations that address multiple case studies in eight Latin American countries (Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, Peru and Uruguay) and two in Europe (Spain and France).

Currently, concerns and debate about the sustainability of tourism remain current, as well as the search for new methodologies, instruments and theories to achieve an activity with fewer negative impacts on the territories. In this sense, academic reflection in relation to sustainability and governance is fertile ground for the emergence of ideas and critical arguments that problematize and offer alternative routes for understanding the classic concept of development applied to tourism, with the aim of transcending the traditional sphere of economic growth.
