The purpose of this book is to demonstrate that in the event of the death of minor children attributable to the State, in terms of reparation for the loss of economic income, parents have three compensation options that, depending on the circumstances of the specific case, may correspond to the own future lost profits, hereditary future lost profits or the loss of the opportunity to receive food or future economic aid, which, although they coexist in the abstract Colombian legal system, are not concurrent in specific cases, since having scope and different settlement formulas, the origin of one displaces the others.

This work is important because theoretically it manages to organize and differentiate the categories of own future loss of earnings, hereditary future loss of earnings and loss of an opportunity or chance that in some specific cases parents suffer due to the death of minor children, and identifies the circumstances facts of incompatibility and exclusion between them, thus generating sufficient conceptual clarity and precision on the subject, which will allow the lawyers of the parents of these in the professional practice of law, in the face of the death of minors attributable to the Colombian State. , among the three mentioned items, make an appropriate choice of the compensation claim.
