La seguridad urbana en movimiento

This book is about the actions of public institutions, popular social organizations and ordinary people aimed at facing insecurity problems in Bogotá (Colombia): mainly, in popular neighborhoods. Although the context of insecurity in this country and in this city is studied, the emphasis is placed on security actions, that is, the actions that give life to the construction process of: urban security. Contrary to what is commonly done in the social sciences, the writing does not stop at a fixed definition of what urban security is, but rather shows the diverse and also contradictory meanings and actions around the creation of safe spaces between different actors. .

On the side of government institutions, the book analyzes how security policy is constructed and takes territorial form, understanding the State as a diverse actor in itself. On the side of social organizations, the book shows not only the spatial networks of actions, but also analyzes a series of non-authoritarian strategies for building security, highlighting their political innovations.

On the people's side, the book explores their political common sense regarding security, and analyzes in detail the daily practices of surveillance. It is shown that there is an essentially authoritarian everyday philosophy of security. Furthermore, if spatio-temporal analysis tools are used, it is shown that living in state . constant surveillance configures a type of urban sociability called Securonormatiuity.

The topics addressed in this work are of interest to understand the security challenges in the city and to understand the challenges of peacebuilding and reconciliation in Colombian society.
